Ever wondered of a Zoo in the middle of the city..!!

Last weekend we had nice time spending out as the day was pleasant and bright sunny day. Initially we had all sorts of plans to go hiking on one of the many peaks that we have in seattle, but then we had to start early Sunday morning..which never happened. We woke up pretty late by 11 and hiking seemed far fetched as we had plans for few other misc stuff by 4pm. so, we decided on visiting our Seattle Zoo.

It was really cool. The zoo is not that big and doesn't that much time to walk around like our Vandalur zoo.!! When I went to vandalur zoo during my 6 or 7th std, I couldn't walk the entire stretch nor could my mama and athai.. we had wind up without seeing all the animals in vandalur zoo and this kind of created a nostaligic imagine on my mind that vandalur zoo is like a big..big..town or something.. and I was expecting somethign similart with seattle zoo too..

However, this one was not very far from downtown at all.. its just right nearby where Preethi works, so was curious how they managed to conquer a huge space such as vandalur, which was what my idea and imagination of a zoo was, in the middle of the city!!

well, Americans don't like to waste and like to make money out of every bit. This was relatively a small zoo in area and perimeter, but far rich n wealthy in animal population. I was really surprised to see the many species varieties they had in that small zoo. It was also very well designed in the sense that they had themes for each area of the zoo, such as "Tropical Africa", "Austrialian lands", "The Savannahs" , "The EverGreen Forest" and so forth. They had wild animals, birds, snakes, frogs, monkey, reptiles..and all sorts of species around there. It was really wonderfull.

the most impressive section were off Lions,Gorillas and Tigers. There were like 2 lions and 4 tigers. They were all relatively closeby and easily reachable to my SLR 28-105 camera/lenses. the Gorillas were awesome.. it was really like seeing King Kong live. . which motivated us to watch King Kong later the same day.. (next)

All together it was a wonderful trip. I'll have these snaps soon in my flickr.
